About the Author:
Elaine Kung was born in Hong Kong and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a master's degree from Princeton University, majoring in electrical materials engineering. She held various technical and business leadership roles at AT&T before retiring in 2017. Together with her husband, she is passionate about evangelism, discipleship, and workplace ministry, having served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, chair of the deacon board, and church elder. Elaine is an experienced workplace life coach, mentor, and author.
In 1996, she founded the Called to Work ministry, encouraging people to enjoy and experience God’s presence in their careers. Over nearly 30 years of teaching, training, and mobilization, she has multiplied disciples committed to their workplace mission. Additionally, she has received numerous industry honors, including the National Minority Female Career Achievement Award, Outstanding Businesswoman Award, and Most Dynamic Manager Award.
Currently, Elaine serves as the Chair of the Chinese Board for the Theology of Work Project and holds advisory or directorial roles in eight international organizations and seminaries, including Ambassadors for Christ, the Lausanne Movement, and Great Commission Center International. She also teaches at churches, workplaces, seminaries, business schools, and global ministries. During the peak of the pandemic, she conducted over 20 one-on-one coaching sessions and 30+ seminars monthly, helping people integrate faith into work, leadership, and family relationships to live out a holistic life as workplace mission disciples. She has also established a global team of bivocational ministry mentors.
